I have been a prolific visual artist for 30 years, drawing on my own life experiences; always striving to be honest in my projects. I am now in my seventies and approaching the end of my life. I require solitude to be able to converse with my muse. Recently a dear friend has included me in his musical endeavours as his guitarist. I enjoy the music and writing songs but I find the music sessions distract from my visual art, like kidnapping my muse and holding her to ransom. Should I abandon the friend (unpleasant) and embrace pure solitude or continue with music and struggle with my art making?
