Natalie McDonagh. Prayer for all the fishes, 2021. Repurposed plastic vessels, found text, fishing line, swivel hooks.
This object embodies the ever increasing tension that I experience between the ecological destruction being wrought and being an inextricable part of the system causing it.
In a durational, sustained act of mindful care these mass produced plastic fish were collected, cleaned, then hand-fed lines of text from Greta Thunberg’s speeches imploring humanity to wake up and take action.
This ridiculously long string of nonsensical prayer beads invites contemplation of our present predicament.
